Day #338 – Tommyknocker Cocoa Porter Winter Warmer

December 5, 2011

Tommyknocker Cocoa Porter Winter Warmer

This is the winter seasonal from Tommyknocker Brewery out of Idaho Springs, Colorado. It is a porter at 5.7% ABV that has cocoa powder and honey added to the mix. Let’s see how it turns out.

Bottle from Central Market. This beer pours a very dark brown color that turns to a clear tan near the top. It has a very light beige colored head.

Aroma is certainly chocolatey, with mocha notes coming through clear. It also is grainy and almost slightly metallic in nature. Not strong mind you but enough to give you a sense of it.

Flavor is soft chocolate and cocoa nibs with dark malts and a solid grain presence. Finishes lightly bitter, and a bit roasted. Not too bad.
