Day #208 – Deschutes Black Butte Porter

July 28, 2011

Apparently this month was Oregon Craft Beer month. I didn’t find this out until recently and feel a little bad that I didn’t feature more beers from Oregon for my blog. I’ve got one today, and it’s a good one!

Deschutes Black Butte Porter

Deschutes is based out of Bend, OR. This beer is classified as a porter and has 5.2% ABV.

This beer pours a dark brown color with slight highlights of red. Big creamy beige head that shot up immediately.

The aroma is big notes of burnt chocolate and toasted coffee ground. Dark malts and roast. Nice.

Flavor is roasted malts right off the bat. Like fat toasted coffee ground. There is a sweetness near the back but it leaves a bitter roasted aftertaste. Cool.
