Day #138 – Real Ale Lost Gold IPA

May 19, 2011

I’m sorry about yesterday folks. It was poor planning on my part and I left too much up to chance. The beer I blogged about yesterday was very good, and it’s neat to have a beer from that style as they aren’t very common, but that beer was not and will not be available here. That goes against my entire purpose of keeping this blog in the first place which is to feature quality choices for locally available craft beer, AND it’s freaken AMERICAN CRAFT BEER WEEK. Man I should have planned better. I promise I will make it up today by featuring a solid beer that is available locally and is brewed in Texas.

Real Ale Lost Gold IPA

Real Ale if you remember is based out of Blanco, TX. This is their IPA at 6.6% ABV. This beer previously was only available on draught but they recently began bottling of this, so it should be more widely available.

The beer pours a clear golden orange color with a foamy white type head. Looks appealing.

The aroma is lots of fruit hops. Grapefruit is smelled for sure with some spicy hops, leafy notes and lemon peel. Warm smelling if you get my drift.

Mouthfeel is a bit stinging, but the flavor is solid. Lots of spicy hops with lemon zest, pine sap and some tart notes. They don’t play around with this beer. It’s an IPA through and through!

Happy American Craft Beer week folks!
